Behind the Scenes

The Shade is the first Farsi language film produced at VFS. Aryan Atri, the little boy in the film, had never acted before and didn’t speak Farsi, though he could read it. Says Producer Jessica Greenwood, “[Director] Mohammad went through the process of teaching him the lines in Farsi and making cue cards.” A location near the airport in Richmond, BC, a suburb of Vancouver, stood in for Central Iran.
