Writing for Film, Story Editing, Marketing, Format
Kat Montagu has lived in England, Australia, Thailand, and Japan, but moved to Vancouver, Canada to earn a degree in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia.
Praxis Centre for Screenwriters trained Kat as a story editor and later awarded her a screenwriting fellowship. Since 2001, Kat has story edited 2-3 feature screenplays every year, and has worked on many more as both a script analyst and as a popular screenwriting instructor at Vancouver Film School, where she previously won the VFS Writing for Film & Television department's Excellence in Teaching Award. She has written many feature screenplays, one-hour TV pilots, published magazine articles, and short films. She is currently working on a novel.
Kat believes that in order to make a stable living and be selective about projects, a writer must develop multiple sources of income as a self-employed small businessperson. She feels strongly that it's not the destination but the journey that matters.
