Behind the Scenes
The filmmakers had planned to simply profile Vietnam-era deserters, but a chance meeting led them to Joshua Key, who deserted after serving 8 months in Iraq. “We thought the interview would just provide a modern context for our film,” Director Paul St. Amand says, “But when I sat down with Josh, the stories he told brought me nearly to tears. I think the entire crew was stunned.”
Film Production at Vancouver Film School

Student films made at VFS have premiered at major festivals around the world, including Cannes, Tribeca, Toronto, Los Angeles, and Vancouver, and graduates have been honored at the Emmys and Independent Spirit Awards.
